Training and Education Tool for the Construction Industry: "Site Trainer"
Experiential training that learns in a virtual environment. We cultivate the "awareness skills" in newcomers and young employees that cannot be acquired through classroom learning alone.
The "Field Trainer" is a training and education tool for newcomers in the construction industry, developed based on the on-site know-how of eight general contractors. It allows users to explore a virtual construction site with an avatar, discover issues related to safety, quality, and construction management, and develop judgment skills through a quiz format. Traditional text-based classroom education often focuses on "knowledge acquisition," but the Field Trainer fosters "knowledge + judgment" through experiential learning. Since it allows new employees and young staff to simulate experiences on-site before their assignment, they can efficiently develop their "ability to notice things on-site." It also eliminates variations in the quality of instruction based on the experience of the educators, achieving standardized training. It can be utilized in a wide range of situations, not only for newcomer training but also for young employee education, reskilling during mid-career hiring, and internships.
